Who Are The top 5 Economists of This Era?

Employment is the engine  of the economy. The per capita income determines its fate. India is a country with  people deployed in both --- organized and unorganized sectors. Yet ,be it the rapidly growing population or grappling attitude towards the unorganized sector. Sometimes, it is difficult to embrace, who is at fault. That makes economists  an important cog in the wheel. In no circumstances, we can underestimate the role of economists.

Who can forget the unexpected financial crisis of 2008, the persistence of slowdown occurred in its wake, failure of conventional monetary and fiscal policies helped in the  revival of economics. If we go by the current situation, not even in nightmares one would imagine  Novel COVID-19, is sufficient to devastate the world's economy. No disparity between rich and poor as everyone is facing the brunt.

Every sector is facing the brunt be it hospitality, construction, textiles or even agriculture nothing is spared .Everyone is suffering ! Wish FM would have heard “ akaash vani” to battle corona better. Umphs, cracking jokes may help to flash a smil in pandemic time.True, terrorism takes only lives, but molecular  atacks both life and economy.

Let's take a look at some notable names:

Adam Smith:

He was a Scottish economist, philosopher and author and moral philosopher. He was considered the father of modern economics. There is a lot to learn from his principles & anecdotes about micro-economics, the need and the demand which makes him father of economics. He is also said to be the brain behind the gross domestic product (GDP) and his theory of compensating wage differentials. If his theory is to believe the world’s dangerous job pays higher wages. A lollipop to attract workers for this position.

Manmohan Singh

When it comes to the top economists in the world and not in India. Dr. Manmohan Singh will remain in the elite list. No one can question his grasp on the subject and reformative measures(keeping political affiliations aside). He has done a tremendous job during his tenure. After obtaining a doctorate in economics from Oxford, Singh worked for the United Nations during 1966-69. In the phase of 70 to 80s,he has held several posts in GOI such as Chief Economic Advisor, Governor of RBI and head of the planning commission.

Subramanyam Swamy:

He is a veteran politician and Harvard-trained economist. He was also a member of the planning commission of India and a Cabinet Minister. He is a critic of existing government which reflects the economy in bad shape, tax terrorism should be curbed. As per him, the economy is a serious problem in the country. Economy is a critical position and should get the top priority.

Amartya Sen :

An  Indian economist and philosopher. He earned his BA in Economics with  First Class. He further got his doctorate  in Cambridge. Also, he was  awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in economics Sciences in 1998 for contribution in economics. He is also called the “Mother Teresa” of Economics for his vital contribution.

Among the names  quoted, the UN needs to work with a firm approach while getting everyone in discussion with economic intellectuals to find corrective measures.Though this will not be ‘a bed of roses’ as unlike western countries, Asian countries are still developing countries but plaguing with a no. of factors.

Hope reading this brings cheerful moments!
